L weapons skilling

I use an L weapon that is much lower than my lvl and seem to get quite a bit of green in wep tech and rifle skill etc., I am 10x10 on hit and dmg. Needless to say SIB is NAM. My question is will I get enough SIB to justify the lost in HA and dmg plus the loss of min dmg when using a weapon where both SIBs are "Yes" Another words, does it make that much difference, do you really get a good increase or just a little. Will I get to the next lvl that much faster?
TIA,
Coz

Some details would help? Where you are now with skills/pro standings, and what weapon/s?

When skilling I always use something slightly higher than my skills ...when actually hunting, always something maxed. Obviously those two sometimes are the same times...you have to hunt to skill weapons ...but in that case I would choose different mobs to skill than to hunt for loot, fear of missing, economy, etc makes me choose the maxed weapon hunting.

if you have SIB you skill faster but also the weapon is not maxed

which can mean that you will miss more shots (in case of HA) or won't do 50-100% dam (in case of dam)

that means that you will need more shots to kill the mob, means it uneco

there is no real "break even point" when the faster skill gain should be rather used than being eco (at least I don't think so)

it depends on what you want
however, i tend to advice my disciples to wait either til maxed or being close to

say, 9/10 HA and 45-90% dam
so they have a bit faster skilling for a while and a still pretty good eco

but thats more a personal thing i guess

gotta agree with alice there.
if you take a gun to skill with and its HA is quite low.
you will be in a long time period of uneco.

i do it the same as alice lets her disciples do.
wait till the next gun's HA and DMG is atleast 90% maxed

The whole SIB thing is nice, but not worth anything when it just kicks in. You're HA will be ridiculously low, hence wiping off most of the fun part. Not to forget about the eco-issues....

I tried for about 2 Berycled with a Breer M2a(L) right when the SIB kicked in. Basically, it was just useless. So finally I switched from Opalo to M1a at lvl 4 Laser and to M2a at lvl 7, so every weapon was about 90% maxed at change.
This way I had the best compromise of skilling quickly AND hunting bigger mobs.
I still use Opalo and M1a though from time to time - and honestly, the skill gains on maxed SIB weapons are not significantly lower.
Yesterday I was hunting Opalo-hunting on Tantillions, Daiks and Exas up to Old, and guess what: although Opalo has been maxed for a while, my rifle skills went up 50 points, whereas Evade moved by 3 pixels... This makes me conclude, that using unmaxed weapons is of no practical use.

I found that the type of mob is lot more influential in gaining skills that the weapon you use; the problem is with being eco: to be eco, you need 10/10 (or close) but that in general that means lower level weapons.
It'a a circle, and it's very important to find the right balance; I found this to be the most difficult aspect of the game if you're a regular player that doesn't depo a lot of money and doesn't want to hunt Daikis until you're blue in the face.

Closing in on Serendipity and thought I speed it up a bit by using a HL8.
Quite some dissapointment skill wise. I am at level 29,5 now, did a 100PED ammo hunt on Allos with a Scrof and afterwards with the HL8.
I do know, that the green lines do not say anything about skills gained, but the Scrof gave me noticeable more skill gain than the HL8 on the same maturities.
I had also never experienced so little green lines as with the HL8, even had mobs where I did not get even one (!).
The Scrof got me from around 29,3 to around 29,4 with 100 PED, the HL8 maybe half of that (1-2 pixel).
Ok, could be that my observation was not correct 100%, but an unmaxed weapon with SiB should give me considerable more skills especially if it is almost maxed.

Great replys +rep to all. I am lvl 35 laser rifle, I like to use isis 32 on troxies and lvl 32 laser pistol and use isis 6 for finisher. However I have to fap on gaurdians and hard for me on dommis, I was using a 48 rifle but the 32 seemed to be more eco and hits seemed to be on the high dmg side more than the 48. I try to do at least 3 100 ped hunts a day on torxies and feffoids sometimes with 1 or 2 50 ped hunts.
This also brings me to another question, what is a decent HA and dmg on a UL gun, say a EWE merc. I am about 3.2 HA and 5.9 dmg and can get about 33 SIB with scope and amps. Would this be more eco than the L gun and how about the skill increase. Decay on 6 is good and the merc is very good. I look at the eco as not having to pay the markup on 6 each time I have to get a new one as opposed to the merc with just repair. DMG on merc is 37.6 and 40.8 on 6 with cost of 4.04 on 6 and 4.12 on merc. The other point is sometimes there are no 6s when I need them and have to wait a day or so to get one. My main concern is the HA and dmg on the merc because of the 3.2 and 5.9 as opposed to 10X10 on the 6. Does everyone think I should hold off on the merc and keep after the 6 or maybe something else until I skill more?
Hope that all makes sense as I tend to ramble.
Anyway thanks to all for the help and I hope you will take the time to answer further.

well, the problem on markup is such a thing

there are some prices the gun simply becomes useless in eco
say, above 160% most guns in the higher damage range are pretty uneco

you can, theoretically, calculate with the higher damage per second, which will reduce your armor decay

however, say the weapon has a decay of 3 pec and you buy it at 200%, eco would be say 150%

you "overpay" 1.5 pec per shot
gotta be a quite big armor (much protection, so much decay) and a pretty often hitting mob to actually have a gain of that

of course, mob regeneration plays a role as well
so a higher dam per sec weapon might save you some shots

however, if just say 1-3 shots are saved, thats say 10-30 pec saved per mob (depends on weapon, i calc with korss400 and 106 amp here kind)
you overpay that with the overpriced weapon in 6,6-15 shots #D
if the mob isnt dead after those shots then, you pay too much for the kill (imo that is)

considering that you hunt atroxes, which have more HP and regeneration now if i am not mistaken and also deal 3 kind of damages, your armor gonna have a quite high decay per hit (since it protects much)

so it can be worth it to go for a higher priced L weapon
can, doesn't have to
depends on how often you are hit etc etc etc

hard for me to have a useful calculation on that, also i dont know what armor you use
but a little figure for ghost 5b against trox, thats ~7 pec decay per hit

to the unL weapon
well, try this to compare weapons with markup as well
http://www.entropiatools.com/avgdmgpec.php

just be sure you fill your current stats with the weapons in as well, else it is assumed its maxed, which the unL guns aren't #D

the eco there however, is again justa guideline
as i mentioned above, armor decay and regeneration, read damage per second figure is a figure you should watch as well
