I'm pretty sure it is just estimated by some player, and then being established as "fact".

Seems from this test data that the gain is not fixed, but there is some random element in it too.

1/20 would give 6.15 in gain, so also with a low variance, like 5.75-6.15 or so, you would get the result above.

Before i heard the 1/20th rule i was asking my soc to time how long it took for a regen and how much they got. I believe at the time i estimated that it was 1/20th every 20 seconds, but i don't know that i ever got it exactly. It was later that i heard the 1/20th rule.

So, i don't know if it has changed or if we have been overestimating how fast we regen all along.

Exactly 20 second intervals still, but looks like we gain just over 11.33 per now I do remember when it was 5% of your total health, was nice to break into the next 20th hp level to gain that extra hp/20 sec, but no longer it seems.

Perhaps the mob regeneration rate was also nerfed

Nerf indeed then... Me and many others tested this over time, and yup its confirmed to be 5% (errr... "was" atleast we tested with 90->~160hp people i think, only one that had more @the time was Dan i think lol). Die, then follow regen, take one big hit, then follow regen etc and always 5% nmw. Havent really cared to check for ages though tbh so not sure if this was a rescent change :s

So Mindark found a not so obvious way to tweak (nerf) something that gave colonists an edge.

My prediction is that they will continue to nerf it until it's down to 3-4%, just in small steps. And then there's the HP - starting out with almost 90 is way too much; any newbie can do just as well with 50 - expect it to reach that level in about ten years time. Running speed is way too fast, we have TP chips now, it will be reduced to the same speed of swimming and then naturally the swimming speed will be cut in half after that - swimming has to be slower then running.

On the other hand, they made healing a lot cheaper with (L) faps. Maybe they lowered the regen to maintain the revenue stream from faps?

Yah and in about 15 years from now all colonists will be hit with a neural disease forcing all of them to buy electric wheelchairs with customisable engines, batteries and solar panels. 2 years later due to muscle atropy all our health points will start to diminish forcing us to buy some kind of protective shields which will consume ME.

Thanks Stryker for confirming what I thought when I looked at my HP regeneration level ...

My thoughts regarding this is that I dont mind MA trying to force more money out of this game (lets face it, every company does just enough to keep the customer bound to them ... all other operations are charitys) ...

The introduction of the completely useless (for hunting purposes at least) Grenade launchers is an example of such ...

And now that I think about, I do remember that I counted my regeneration once when I hit 100hp and it was 5hp every time so the nerf must have happened recently.

Guess I will have to gain a few more hp before getting 6 all the time

Damn time to write to support and ask if it is bugged as there was no mentioning of this change in the release notes.

May by if we all do it they will revert it.

It has to be a recent change. Probably the last VU.
