Do skills unlock once you hit a prof standing?

Just wondering cause according to the charts i should have unlocked a couple (like martial arts) already. It says unlocks at level 20. I am at 20 and about a quarter of a bar. Is this normal?

Hidden skills will unlock on the first skill-check when engaged in the relevant profession. So if you get lvl20 Swordsman (hit) from secondary skills while shooting, Marital Arts will not unlock. If you swing a sword until you get a (hit) skill with it then you will get the unlock.

yes its normal... may take some time but it will unlock soon

It's not normal imo. It should unlock the second your prostanding changes to 20, as long as the skill gain comes from a relevant profession (as itree points out) and not from chipping or another profession.
