Well I've already put $10.00USD into this game and flopped on hunting and currently messing around with becoming a trader but thought that sweating would be a nice time sink while I learn the ropes and I only had a few Questions:
-Should I bother getting armor for sweating? If so what kind, as I was planning on going to the sweat camp outside of Port Atlantis -Does my sweating skill affect anything? I know that sweating is fixed at 40% success rate but maybe the sweating skill affects how quickly you can sweat or ... something? ![]() -Thanks |

No, no, no, no, and no. Never ever ever ever ever wear armour when sweating.
Your sweating skill doesn't affect anything at all. What's important is the other skills you gain - Evade, Athletics, Courage etc. They are all useful for other things than sweating. |

As Oleg said, don't use armor that will be damaged by the mobs you sweat. If you have to use your tiny profits from sweating to repair your armor, then you will spend hours on sweating just to find out your hard earned PEDs all disappear in the repair terminal later on
![]() Sometimes you will see people at Sweat Camp wearing armor, experienced sweaters even, but they wear armor that is not affected by the damage type dealt by the mobs there - if the mobs deal cut, stab and impact damage and the armor is only burn protection, then the armor won't be affected by those mobs. Of course it won't give any protection there either. Those folks just wear it to show off (waving at M and C )40% success rate at sweating is pretty much IMHO - I think you will find out that it will be more like 20% successfull pulls. If you find a good tactic that works for your skill level and stick around the healers and focussers, you might get a few hundred sweat per hour, even 500/hour is not impossible for a new player. Just don't give up, be patient, learn from other sweaters and you'll be fine. Also, I like Swamp Camp, because it rarely gets boring - there is more drama going on in chat than in any afternoon soap and reality court show together ![]() And - again what Oleg said - sweating will boost a few very important defensive skills for you, be patient and use that fact to your advantage. Most of all - have fun, enjoy the ride and good luck! See ya ta Camp! |

Yes, for the record, it's exactly a 20% success rate, i.e. 1 in 5.
My advice is to always sweat in a team - ok not literally a "team" in the official EU hunting sense but a group of players all sweating together. You'll get hit less. Try to make friends with (a) a healer, (b) someone with a gun to kill the dry ones and (c) someone to give focus. And try to get all the TPs when you get bored.... |

One option is to sweat hunt. That means that you sweat the mob until its dry - then kill it and pray for loot. This does 2 things. First, it helps to minimize loses because you can sell the sweat. Second, because sweating and hunting takes longer than just hunting - the amount of time you can play after each deposit it longer. Generally speaking, if you are a newer player who should accept the fact that EU is much, much easier if you engage in a regular deposit schedule. $10-$15 per month if possible. If the issue is money - I suggest this old post of mine. |

A lot of people don't like to sweat because "it's boring" or "it takes too long" or "I hardly make anything from doing it"... I say they're looking at it the wrong way.
Yes, sweating is like having a crappy, low-paying job with no benefits - and I'm pretty sure everyone can identify with that... but here's where changing your thinking just might change everything. For me, sweating is not about the sweat or what I can get selling it. It's about the people - the herd of road cones at Sweat Camp, the regulars at Nea's... sweating is social time. If you've ever been around when I'm sweating, I'll toss all manner of comments in the chat, even hold unofficial "How Many Times in a Row Can You Fail?" contests (My personal record is 33 fails before pulling any sweat), I'll even talk to the creatures I'm sweating - "Don't skill on me ambu, you'll LOSE points." And unlike that crappy, low-paying job, you're not going to have to worry about some stressed-out supervisor pitching a fit because you're talking while you're working. So Sweat Time is Social Time - Q&A Time - it's even been nap time (yes, I've dozed off sweating at Nea's - lulled to sleep by the gentle call of the wild ambulimax). It's also time to "spread the word" - and no, I'm not talking peddling religion - but to let other people know important information - such as who offers various services, what services you have to offer, and perhaps most importantly: Who's buying sweat for prices over that offered by the resellers (and prices below 5.3/1000 [oft seen as .53] are what the average reseller offers). And it's time to build skills. Now I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm rather fond of having high Evade - I don't like to get hit when I don't have to. Just changing the way you think about Sweating can change the experience entirely - I know it did for me, and imagine my surprise at the end of the "day" when I popped open my inventory to see I'd gathered 7,142 bottles of sweat! ~I |
