Worth buying a focus chip?

Is it worth investing in a focus chip so you can self-focus and power-sweat if most/all of your ammo/repairs money comes from sweating?

Definitely worth it. It will save you a lot of time, and if you sweat mobs till they are dry it will save you a lot of fapping costs too. Plus you'll be getting more Mindforce skills, which may come in useful later, especially Psychotropy which will help you use a teleport chip accurately.

You should be able to get a Minor Focus Chip for about 20 PED. You'll also need to buy the Aa implant from the TT, and the insertor tool (you can TT this after you've used it to put the implant in), and you'll need Mind Essence to use it. Since you're a sweater, you might as well buy 1k nexus and make the ME yourself.

After that initial investment you'll find the costs of using the focus chip quite low if you're just using it for sweating.

You'll find some basic guides to mindforce on this forum if you do a search.

Or you check your skills and get a moderate one if and when you got 0.5 in psycho(hit). They are for some mysterious reason dirtcheap(~TT+1) probably because they are one level too high to fit in a AA. You could buy a "better" implant, but the cheap ones do not support level one chips.

The big problem is exactly as you say, they don't fit in the Aa. The other A series implants are useless because they don't take Level 1 chips, which means they don't take the Lesser Teleport Chip which 99% of people use most of the time.

So although you can get the Moderate cheaply but you'd have to buy a Bb implant which is a lot more expensive than just getting the Minor chip.

For sweating, there's no point in getting more than a Minor chip. The higher level chips are only really useful to people who are doing more serious mindforce skilling.

Yup, definitely the minor chip. You don't want to spend too much money using a focus chip. A higher level chip could be considered as expensive skilling in mindforce.

If you are seriously interested in Minforce I would suggest buying one of the larger (potent) chips now while the price is low. Higher level chips in this area of MF seem to have, historically, dropped more than other areas, therefore, the price is lower. However, as EU is 'dynamic' and a MF update has been promised prices will rise in the medium term to long term.

I'm lookin' into getting a focus chip too and I was wondering if anyone knew about what skill level you could economically move up from the minor to the medium, entropedia didn't really help me there :/

One thing I learned about tossing focus into the mix is that you keep trying to sweat a creature and sometimes accumulate some naaaasty armor decay :/ and a few times I oopsed and died, great way to lose time, decay, and charges
