ermm why tame?

For fear of getting shot down by all you animal lovers - can someone tell me what the point of animal taming is?

To me it seems another way to have a constant drain on peds and nothing more. I would have much rather seen a better VU say with vehicles etc..

Would love to hear peeps views?

This phase of taming is a waste of ped. Other than skilling. When they open up taming of all sorts of animals to where they can carry your stuff (including you), attack other mobs or players on command, have multiple pets, etc. there will most def be a point to taming.

Imagine 3 AOA tamed to attack people, other mobs, etc. Oil rig would be a lot of fun then!

Fair point - but then, why bring out this pointless phase? - money spinner or am I just too cynical in my old age. To me, it seems as pointless as owning an apartment.

Its actually not pointless. You can get good skill gains taming your pet at this stage. Sure, you can get a pet to level 3 (the top level as of now) in about 20 mins. But the skills you get doing it are going to carry forward.

Guess it depends on what level of the game you want to get into. I have a huge house in game filled with all sorts of pricey stuff. I just enjoy it. Yes, its probably 20k peds wasted. Buts it what i enjoy and my only hobby.

Some people like to "waste" money on green fees and new clubs etc... Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks!

Interesting. Perhaps we will be able to ride them then... perhaps.

But command them to attack other players? And even if you could, that would probably require a very high level of training, and so a considerable investment. Would you want to risk them getting killed then? What if they cannot revive like we can?

...but if you shoot tamed animals it says "they cant be killed (yet)"

Then I have to ask you:
Is there any reason for playing PE at all?

PE has something of everything. Also I am sure taming will have more use in the future.
