I know for 100% fact I had a pet deed before I took a few months break, when I started playing again couple days ago, no deed.

So I can probably safely say that pre-vu deeds pets that have starved do get deleted at some point...

It seems like they are giving conflicting information to me...

At first it was not a bug that the pet died. Now it is no longer a bug: "but now is ok". Are the assuring me that they fixed the former bug allowing starving pets to live?

That would be my guess, as well as a logical point.

Pets should die (sorry tamers, and pet owners). I previously had a pet that I treated like crap (sorry to my exo stalker)... I'm fairly sure he shoulda died a year ago, I always wondered why he sat in my inventory all alone and afraid...

I imagine, if I had one in real life, and kept him locked in my safe, he'd probably die after a while, not to mentioned being REAL pised at me for not letting him see the light of day....

So, now, pets will soon have a use. I would guess that they will soon be implementing more pet features, only makes sense to make sure you hafta feed your pet to be able to keep it....

And, yes, I'm prepared for the neg reps from tamers.. but pet owners, how bad do you feel for not feeding your pet? -.-

EDIT: PS I love the idea of getting a furry stuffed animal in the mail for owning a pet... maybe once your pet reaches a certain level, they mail you one.. and if it dies, you hafta chuck it into the garbage

Yeah, support wrote me back stating that the bug was that pets couldn't die before and now that bug is fixed.

They really should have let people know they were doing that. I am not a huge pet lover in-world. But I've seen some people with a lot of pets. Now they will either lose them or need to spend a lot of money feeding them.

If they would have warned us ahead of time, perhaps some people would have taken that time to TT their beloved pets and returned them to the MindArk gods... oh wait, that would have cost MA money. Duh at least by implementing the fix this way, the loot-pool will stay nice and full </sarcasm>

Then they should implement the new uses and features and then change them to be able to die at the same time! I have no problem with them needing to be fed to be kept alive if they actually did something but as they are still useless why introduce this now?!

Reading your support cases Jake I would forward them onto that email that was given for unsatisfactory support cases saying that the replies you are getting are of no help whatsoever and not only that but they seem to be written by someone who has barely studied English

I won't disagree with you there, but I'll go even farther to say that if they were intended to die orgininally, then they should have made them do that originally. People would bitch less if everything works right the first time.... mind you, I'm not saying that Mindark employs a bunch of idiots, just that certain 'bugs' should be at the least announced when they are known....

i.e. We have introduced pets. A bug has been noticed that the pets never die. Please be aware that this will be fixed in an upcoming VU.

They should have told us - to be honest I feel absolutely awful that MA allowed people to trade pet deeds on the assumption that they live for ever until opened - which now seems to be a bug. It is, however, a bug that they took over two years to announce while being aware of the trade in 'bugged' deeds.

Here's a bit of what the main site say about taming:

  • The BRUSH: Available from the auction, the BRUSH is used to increase the animals trust in you once it has been tamed. This will allow the animal to perform tricks and greetings later on.
And more importantly:

If you fail to stable your pet in time, or if no one looks after the pet (you leave it or if you are offline) for longer than 10 minutes, your pet will automatically get stabled. If this happens, your pet will lose trust, experience and energy. Please note that if the energy level and experience of your pet is 0 when you desert it, it will die!

If the pet starves while in stable it will lose trust, energy and experience.
It doesn't say if your pet can die while stabled or not; it does not say that it will die, though - I think that indicates that it shouldn't die while stabled.

PJ you do not need to feel bad about this at all; I am sure that anyone who bought a pet from you (and I am one) will be quite clear that MA is responsible, not you or the other sellers.
