I agree... whoever supports this kind of behavior is guilty of the same in my book.

And who says it is foolish to try to enforce morality in a virtual game?

The Golden Rule, or the Categorical Imperritive (whichever you prefer) apply in any context when we are relating to other people in any way. If this were a game where we were competing for resources with each other, you could make an argument for such behavior....but there is no need in the context of THIS game to resort to this kind of action, other than a need to be mean towards another person. Sad when people go out of their way to give someone else a bad day, for no other reason than taking pleasure in the abuse of others. It is a sign that they have deep feelings of insecurity and impotence....somehow, by trying to bring others down, they feel better about themselves.

Own might not be the right word but it is very disrespectful and serves no purpose but to harrass the one who was trying to tame the mob. The one trying to tame the mob can then start all over again and spent decay on the whip.
