Taming/ loot/ MA's approach to Communication

It was mentioned that tamed animals would give their loot, and you are quoted as saying it's possible to global off a tamed mob, yet it's obvious that since the last VU tamed animals never give any loot. Please fix this.

Clever, they seem to have slipped from "oh perhaps that's a bug" to "screw you that's not supposed to happen" in the course of a few weeks. If memory serves it was in that VU they also adjusted the way the spirit decreases so you have to wait a lot longer (taking hits and letting mob regen) to get it down to taming levels. It's quite a double-bonus for MA ledgers, that.

Frankly, if i'd gotten the response they gave you i would have already sold my remaining stock of whips.

Got an excellent response from MA:

1. Support made a mistake
2. We ARE supposed to gain loot from tamed pets
3. They apologise
4. They will investigate and adjust the system to change any irregularities.


They took their time about sorting this out, however, it looks like they will fix this bug.

The loot should not have been removed. However, as with regular hunting, not all tamed animals will carry loot. We have forwarded the issue to the members of the design team and any irregularities found will be adjusted automatically.

If hunting loot is the same as taming loot, I'm hardly concerned about the 20 pec I might have won on such low end mobs....especially considering the decay required to train a pet. Nice to here someone at MA has recognized the problem, though.

Considering the contradictory messages from support, it seems like their support staff aren't included in the memos about the programming or its implications.

I'm assuming such memos actually exist.

If not...we might be in a bad situation here.

Yeah, don't hold your breath on that one.

Bad as loot might be, going through a couple limited whips with no loot vs. bad loot is significantly different in cost.

yeah if i remember right it was said that you should get the loot from the mob if you tame it ^^

well lets hope MA doesnt need a year to fix it :P

I went out the other day to see if they fixed that "no loot" problem with tamed animals. I didn't actually tame enough anmials to say for sure but I did notice something odd.

now, I haven't tamed for quite a while, in fact since this "no loot" stuff started.

so here I am and I tame five daikiba stalkers (not all at once obviously). I get three of them, one I accidentally hit with an axe when he's at 1/3 heatlh (so I kill him), and the last one kills me on a critical hit just befor I get to make the taming attempt. so, you ask, what's the point?

well, this is a significant number of whip hits. during this time, I notice that not one of the skill gains is animal taming. perhaps wsomeone can comfirm this. if it is so, it would seem that they've changed that and I'd guess you can only collect animal taming when you hit the tame button (as I did get one animal lore on one of the successful tames).

My experience is exactly the same - no taming skills given when whipping and taming only when I push the tame button (and very few of those).
