WARRNING!! Security Issue when Getting new Gold Card!

My gold card was gettting worse and worse, and sometimes if took me 20min of blowing and slamming the reader and card before It would give me a code so It was time to order a new card and reader.

Some friends of mine said I didnt have to order a new one in the tradeterminal, I could just send a supportcase since I allready had a card.

So, Sunday evening I sendt a supportcase about my goldcard was broke and if Mindark could send me a new one. Hoping they would read it Monday morning and it would only take 1-2 weeks before I could play again.

Monday when I got home from work I had gotten a reply from support saying a new card and reader was in the mail.

I was gonna login PE since I still could get some codes from my old card and reader, just took some effort. But to my big supprice Mindark had then disabled my old card. I almost when in shock!
My account had been a hole day with no goldcard protection while I was at work. I was about to call Mindark and get them to lock my account ASAP. But after calming down I didnt and took my chances that my proctection on my computer was good enough and wasnt compremised.

I am very dissapointed in Mindark for disable my goldcard with out informing me, or asking me if they should lock my account while I was getting the new card.

So as a warning to people that gets a new goldcard, talk with Mindark and make sure your account is safe when the new card are on its way.

if yes.. then i would sue mindark for it.
if no.. whats the big problem? they tried to help you right?

The big problem? Kimmi has thousands upon thousdands of pounds worth of equipment and skills that are totally unprotected.

If he had been hacked, MA would not give him his stuff back, nor could he sue them due to the EULA (your pc saftey is your responsibility not theirs)

I would be pretty pissed off too. Essentially due to an oversite they risked his entire account. I accept its a small risk, but would you be happy if a company took a small risk with thousands of your money?

Your post was not clear Kimmi, are you saying that once the old Gold Card was de-activated by Mindark, that you were able to log in to your account with no gold card at all? People are making that assumption based on your post, yet you never said that explicitly.

Also, it sounds like there was no need for a new Gold Card at all, just a replacement reader. You seemed to make a mistake in your support case by saying your Gold Card was broken, when actually it was just a problem with the card reader (battery probably getting weak).

If I recall correctly, Gold Card holders are entitled to one new reader per year, for free.

Well not yet he hasnt, but then, I would hardly now post my account isnt protected by a G.C

I believe he means, if the G.C takes 2 weeks to arrive, the account could be compromised.

This is indeed strange. I got this answer to a support case sometime last year:

Hi,
You should be able to login again. Since the Gold Card System is meant to offer you the highest security possible, we cannot remove your Gold Card unless you send us a copy of your passport or other internationally acknowledged identification document to verify yourself as the true holder of the Entropia Universe account.

This means they wont disable your Gold Card until they verify it is you who is asking for a new one, and not a hacker.

Im not that good to explain technical stuff in english, but my gold card was the problem, I allready have 3-4 readers
I had goldcard number 1xx something and the card was totally broken from going "in and out" (lol) everytime I wanted a new code I had to push hard on my reader to get the "pins" to get in contact with the electronics on the goldcard so it could gererate a code.
I know It was a gold card I needed, but I also just wanted a new reader saying "entropia universe" and not "project entropia".

So when I sendt an supportcase to mindark about it, saying my card was broken I needed a new one.
Then sendt me a fast reply saying new card and reader was in mail. But they not inform me that they had disabled the old goldcard.
