Decent hardware to play EU and Cry engine ready

I have converted to a Intel P 8400 on a Asus NSE Striker Motherboard with Dual Asus 8600gts cards with 512 DDR3 on board.
and 2gb of DDR 3 RAM on the mobo.
(prol will upgrade RAM later to 4 or 8gb)
I dont recomend this rig for the light hearted, it can take some figuring it out with Bios upgrades required and issues about Ram compatability causing problems with EU loader working.
Once you sort that all out I can say its a helluva machine and my EU experience has improved immensely.
There are far less antialianaizing issues and frame rates are superb, textures are crystal clear.
Once the infamous Cry engine gets up and running its going to be eye-candy.

graphics card cost me 200 i think

total cost i think ended up being 2k but i bought the case+router+HD+other bits (custom setup).

Runs EU lovelily. Runs crysis easily (no jagginess on 'low' settings) only EU s/shots i've seen that look better than mine are those with wider screens...it ca'nt do grass shards though (like any gfx engine :P) but doesn't bother me

You could get an ATI Radeon 4850 or even 4870 for less than that. And it would outperform it immensely lol.

Not an issue when you buy one v cheap and get on free\

I do love my nVidia stuff a lot, have had the Radeons before but they always seem to crap themselves (die) for me.

I confer that the 4870 is good
but
The 4870 is not a completely new architecture, it's the 3870 with more texture units, more and faster memory, and much faster clocks.

If you compare the 3870 specs to the 4870 you get a hypothetical doubling of the performance. However, double of the performance lands around the one card for a 9800GTX, in theory.
Thus the 8600's as a fill in, until nVidia gets a decent 9900GT out in Q 3 of this year, it will leave this system eminantly upgradeable

I have a intel dual core at 2.13 GHz
3gb ram mostly 4gb sometimes xD
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT
and 2 HDDs 315GB+500GB
and I'm running XP pro

I can't wait to get that DX10 that some1 is working on so the XP users can use it to Cryengine will look fabulous
