Help: Running on Vista... yes, another thread

So... i know that several people have had som complications when trying to run entropia on vista, and there are several suggested ways to make it run...

Today i purchased a new notebook, wich had vista installed, so i downloaded the thing from the EU webbpage and installed...
the installation went fine, and i pressed finish.
When i then tryed to run EU by klicking on the icon that appeared on the desktop i got an error message:

BTW! Its in swedish!!!!



I was kinda expecting it not to work as i have read several threads about vistatrouble when i still had XP, so i searched for them here...

Now i have spent about an hour, installing and reinstalling EU trying to make it work using the different ways i have found on EF.

I have tryed

1) Run it in XP SP2 Mode
2) Run it as administrator
3) NOT installing it on the system portion
4) Also THIS

And i still cant get it to work

Now im really tired and fed up with this system so plz excuse this, yet another thread about vista trouble but im really clueless atm.

Hopefully someone can help me, or has suggestions

What video card do you have in the laptop. Also, can you translate the error to english. I think I got about 5 words out of the error that I can understand. I have EU installed on my computer at work and it runs fine on Vista Business X64 bit edition, well except I have a piece o' junk 7300LE video card that tanks as soon as I login.

so weird that everyone is having problems with it.
the only problem i have is that i constantly need to open it as administrator..
everything else is just fine.

I have a 8600M GS graphics card in it... the error is something like; The program couldnt run becouse the programs side by side (or something like that) configuration is "not correct". Controll the Logg for more information.

Try to uninstall the DirectX 2005 update that is installs when you install EU. After you get it uninstalled try downloading this http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...DisplayLang=en
make sure you get the right one for your computer, probably the X86 one (32-bit).

it is not possible to uninstall Direct X, if it is really a problem with Direct X an Update should the best solution

Short googling revealed, that it seems to be a prob with the C++ .
Try a search for vcredist_86.exe on the MS

btw....as far as I know this gets updated normally with the automatic updates. If you got the rig today, it is quite possible that it has not done them yet, try to force it manually

there is an option that always uses administrator mode so you dont always have to select it everytime you play.

I have a similar rig, lappy, 2.1 Ghz, 4 GB ram 1600 GSM card, but no problems running EU.

However, I have run into other issues and most of the time with Vista it seems to be a Permissions related one. Several times for Apps, I've had to go into the Program Files folder or the App folder and change the permissions for user accounts to access them.

You can do it similar to the way it is done in XP.

(PS, I would have downgraded to XP on my lappy, but there are no drivers for some of the HW on it)
