Ok that got your attention!
![]() My pc has been acting a bit oddly of late, mainly rebooting without warning. ![]() I've been trying to track down the culprit and I thought it was the memory, cpu or the power supply that was on the way out. But then my screen started looking like this: So it may be that my long suffering Radeion 9800 Pro is going to be pushing up daisies shortly. It's not temperature related as CPU is 50 deg and case at 31 deg (under load) Rebooting pc usually signifies PSU on the way out, graphic corruption that something wrong with the graphic card. Anyone had anything similar or shall I just take a lump hammer to the lot? ![]() |

Computers can be tempremental bastards sometimes. I've been crashing to the blue screen of death often lately. I keep replacing parts trying to fix it. So far I have replaced my RAM, Graphics Card and Hard Drive as well has done a clean sweep of the system to ensure it wasn't virus or data corruption and it's still happening.
I figure motherboard and sound card next, surely it has to be one of the two. Or maybe it's just conflicts with more modern gear, I'm a bit of a pc retard tbh. |

My thoughts are it's probably time for both. but then with only a 9800 you are probably still in an AGP mobo and those cards are almost impossible to find anymore. Last ones i knew nvidia made were the 7800GS and not so sure about ATI. Look at www.tomshardware.com for more info. Theree's a great chart there that tells what cards are agp or pci express.
Maybe it's just time to retire your poor old much loved but overly tired rig and get something newer with PCI express gfx . Just watch what you buy since getting that new PC on a budget can be a daunting task. |

Prime 95 (tests cpu / memory and general pc well being) can run for over two hours before failing. I had run a program called ccleaner which is great for removing unwanted junk temp files, but is still terrible as a registry fixer (serves me right) so spent all day trying to get the OS back running stably too. I do have a spare Radeon 9800Pro so will probably swap that in, as I also think the current one is either failing or not inserted properly (possible?) Current PSU is 400w and lovely and quiet but have a spare 431w that will be swapped in shortly too. I'm thinking it may be both the graphic card AND psu here although not discounting there may be some driver problems too (none showing up however) Thanks for your input ![]() |

Your order for Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3850 / 512MB DDR3 / AGP 8X / Graphics Card has been posted. Arrives Monday! ![]() Before anyone says how crap AGP cards are: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...gp,1939-4.html "Once again, the difference between AGP 8x and PCIe 16x doesnt seem to be a heck of a lot" I'm really looking forward to the improvement. ![]() |
