Help: Skipping the DirectX install...

Ok. So long story short, my windows installer is bugged and cant work.

So ther are a lot of applications I cant install, DirectX being one of them.

I already have 9.0c, but EU forces me to try to install it, but the install freezes up every time...


So is there a way I can skip the check ?

do a clean install, get a clean windows ) never hurts, best thing to do

Its just that I finished formatting already, and this problem popped up :\.

I guess it has to be done..

The Installer is just another Windows program. If it doesn't work just uninstall and reinstall it (or maybe upgrade to a newer version).

Then everything should be back to normal.

i just had the same problem ...heres how i fixed it.
reformated drive and install xp with service pack 1 ...note if u install with service pack 3 u will not get it to work...there's a problem with the validation of sigs
anyways i didnt try with service pack 2 ..but im back up any running just fine now..hope this helps ya

Windows Installer is one of the windows services. In my opinion, u can't install any soft because RPC service don't running (require for Windows Installer service).

1.
Open services list:
Start->Run, write "services.msc", press Enter

2. Find "bla-bla-bla (RPC)" service (don't know name on english WinXP, russian name is "Удаленный вызов процедур (RPC)")
Set to Auto and start service.

Try install now.

If step 2. don't solve problem, find "Windows Installer" service and start this service manually before you click on setup.exe.
