Help with a Gfx Card!

Hey guys! Ill be inactive for the nxt 5-9 business days..... unless someone can give me a hand!

My Gfx card blew up today... which grants me a GREAT excuse to buy a new one... I planned to buy a new one for Xmas... and seems to be fate has prompted a higher demand for my awaiting eyes

So heres my question... the best card ive found (for my budget and for my CPU board) is the Geforce Nvidia 7600 gt AGP. Not quite as good as i hoped, but as stated in the parenthesis, the best im gonna do. On Amazon dot com, they've got one for 950 ped, free shipping (and then a decent mail-in rebate, which puts it at aprox 850 ped. Great price, imho- but the problem lies therein... 5-9 business days for shipping! ew! does anyone know of a site that can get the same, or VERY similiar card to me faster? This lil impatient girl wants to log in NOW!!!!! ! ! 1 1 one

I would suggest to try to get a 8600GT(256MB) , a nice fast card with a good price/performance ratio.

The fastest way is to search a computer parts discount in your region and get it there personally.

I would say buy a complete new comp, that gfx card wont take you far when the new engine comes next year. And also never ever buy a gfx card with less than 500 meg mem. nowadays you need as much mem as you possibly can get.

Tried getting a video card at your local pc parts supplier? Getting it online and wait for it to be shipped is not an option imo ...

I just got a 512mb 8500GT and couldn't be happier (about 900ped but i`m sure you can find better) I get full resolution and AA with out any worries.

Places that once slowed the frame rate way down like segna grass is no longer a problem even with full terrain and av quality and wind on.CND is way better too.

I dont know how that compares to others and as far as crytek is concerned Crysis requires minimum 360mb card for optimal performance so maybe thats a guide for us too.

And there u are dead wrong. If u wanna have a somewhat fun experience playing u will need MINIMUM 8800gts with a lot of mem.

Sure if ur willing to play in 800x600 then sure u wont be needing that much mem but meh! :P with my comp which is quite a good one from todays standard, core 2duo e6600, 2 gig ram, 8800gts 640 meg etc etc i can run crysis on 1024x768 at high settings and get decent fps.. and by decent i mean around 30-40.

If you want an Old school AGP card you should consider the ATI card, x1950pro. One of the best agp cards.

Alltou I have to agree with others, it would be better to get a new system. A new card on an old system might last a couple of month but sooner or later you will have to upgrade it all anyways.

You are absolutely right.My bad.

According to This site (which i used to sort my requirements for entropia) it says a 640mb card is needed for Crysis to reach recommended requirements and i guess optimal is the best pc you can get your hands on without raiding NASA.

Although tinks if you dont want to or cant go for a whole new rig just yet i agree with legion on getting a card with atleast 512mb.You`ll still get all the pretty effects with a 256 card but not the frame rate.As far as i know if you just want something to get you by any 512mb card that supports pixel shader 3.0 and directX9 should get things looking pretty sweet till you decide.

As i stated above, im limited by my budget and my Rig.... which .. wel.. you know
A new Rig wont happen for another 14 months, at the min, tho along with my GFX card, im adding 1 gig of ram, making it 2 gigs.
I wound up buying the 7600 512 AGP. I used Amazon dot com, and got it (with express shipping included) for 794.90 ped... still aprox 6 days for shipping, but meh.
Im not really looking to spend my life savings' on a rig and all that... as a crafter and part-time hunter... i dont have that huge of a demand for my system.. so.. after im fully setup with my RAM comming in as well, im looking at 3.4 AMD athalon, 512 MB 7600 card, 2 gigs ram, good fsb, and the rest of everything is matching Im a happy girl with that!
