How to configure my PC to reduce lag

got 2 related problems.

First, I got really serious lag - everybody complains about lag, so I will just explain how serious exactly it is:
- auctioneer sometimes takes 1-2 minutes to enter.
- when tp'ing to PA or Twin, it can easily take up to 4-5 minutes before i can see the people there.
- just general lag always when moving around.

I have a 10Mbit/s connection, so the problem should be with my hardware. My PC is only a few months old, although not "state-of-the-art". Before going to buy hardware upgrades , I wonder if anyone has tips on how to configure it (memory allocation or whatever) to run EU better. I use VISTA and I have already set the grahics options for lowest quality in the client loader and disabled everything including the sound.


The other related problem is when i go to the bank. 4 out of 5 times i get disconnected when activating the bank teller. It starts loading for 3-4 minutes, then the bank window comes up with a disconnected message. Usually I have to restart my computer, because escape doesnt work - this thing happens only when using the banks. I am wondering what it could be that makes the banks so troublesome for my little PC.

My system is only 1.7Ghz with 1Gb onboard RAM and mine runs faster then yours. I make it a habit not to have crap loaded into memory that I am not currently using tho. I also keep my registry clean and defrag my drive on a regular basis.

I get a tiny bit of lag East of Twins on a regular basis and the auctioneer can take up to about 15-20 sec to complete loading.

I have noticed since VU9.1 alot of 'intermittant lag' in my apartment in Sakura City as well as just running around in general... just little hiccups of lag.. like the screen is a tiny bit choppy.
