Question Support weapons: How does damage work?

Greets.

Rummaging through my storage - I decided to put to use some explosive projectiles I had lying around. So I picked up my first Eraktor 10 (grenade) launcher and decided to playtest it a bit.

I checked that stats were 5 Impact, 27 Shrapnel, and 9 Burn damage for the Eraktor.

Ported over to Troy and went out into a large swarm of Exas - and launched the grenade!

Hmm... each one of them got hit by only 1 damage!! Launched again.... same result. Again. And again!

Ofcourse my skills when I launched were Zero in support weapons and explosives. Soo...

(1) Were my skills determining how my 27 Shrapnel damage is distributed?

(2) Does the damage max out PER critter as my skills improve?

(3) At what skills levels should I be (theoretically) doing max damage with the above weapon?

(4) Is the 27 damage DIVIDED between the number of critters I hit? Or does EACH critter have an equal chance to get a max-hit of 27 within the blast radius?

(5) How is the Burn and Impact damage determined? Is that divided among them all? Or is it randomly unleashed on specific critters? Or do ALL critters within blast radius have an equal chance of getting max-hit by this as well?

Anything else I should know about support weapons? Are they good for PvP or killing bad boy critters? At what skill levels are they efficient and economic to use? Or are they just another eye-candy toy?

As for the 4th question there is quite a reasonable answer.. all damage you do ie the max damage of the weapon get's divided by all mobs that get hit. Ie you do 15 damage but there are three mobs you do a totall of 15 damage divided on all mobs. Otherwise EVERYONE would use grenade launchers to hunt as they would be to darn economic to use.
