AS-97 or ASG Pig?

Well in the new year i shall be depositing a fair amount of peds, and i wanted to upgrade from my Just MK2 or perhaps buy an extra weapon to use along with my EP Merc. I am very happy now but i realy want to upgrade into a BLP weapon.

There are two weapons that i want some advice on before i buy them, The ASG-1 Pig and the AS-97. Which would you recomend for a mid lvl player with Plated ghost? I mainly hunt Atrax, Atrox and Aurli so i think the Pig would be best for these as i can already tag with the Just MK2.

Ome more question, Can you add an amp to the Pig? as i know you can to the As-97.
Last question, which amp would you recomend, I was thinking along the line of a Angst, But i dont know if i should go with that or go with a Bull Tac 40?

You can amp pig but I dont recommend you to buy this weapon for hunting since it is most only for pk. The reload on pig sucks for hunting mobs so go for the as-97 and amp it nicely

Ive also been looking into the TR6, i am swaying towards the Rifles rather then the Pig. The only problem with the TR6 is that its not that oftern you see one on auction.

Is one in the auction right now but the TR-series suffer from the same dissease as the Vat-series, a Bad Dmg/pec Economy.

With both series they are below 4.00 ( If you don't count the Mod and ME versions )

So go for an As 98 or something or stick with laser, I mean when you start BLP your efficiency will be a lot lower then with laser weapons. Try an Ep 41 for the extra Dmg/sec or something, just my opinion.

I own an ASG-1 Pig and from my experience this weapon only comes in use for:

-PK. Slap a Beast on this thing and it'll do 101 damage max. Kicks serious ass in the ring as well. Often can kill in only one or two hits. Mostly penetration damage too, so it can punch through a good variety of armour and cause some nice damage.
-As a fun gun - ie running around a field killing all low level mobs in one hit. LOL, mass field slaughter.

I only bought this weapon because alongside the normal everyday hunting guns, I wanted something just to mess about with. You know to have fun with. As a primary hunting weapon this thing is pretty much useless. The reload is relatively slow (26 shots/min) and the range is laughable (10 or 11m if I remember correctly). Most pistols have better range.

Seriously if you want something fun to mess about with, get an ASG-1. But if you're looking for something useful I'd suggest the AS-98 or other BLP rifle.

In case you're wondering you can add an amp, lasers and scopes on the ASG-1. But for some odd reason they don't show up visually on the weapon. Except for one of the lasers. *shrugs* Then again why'd ya need a scope on a shotgun? :P

The pig (log time since I had one) have swine now is really only good for certain P.K. situations. Maybe as a emergency gun for mobs but the decay on them is not all that good.

What I would recommend to you is a nice DOA that is great for P.K and hunting mobs. (Well in B.L.P anyways).


So think your need to decided between a good DOA and the 97 to be honest, while the 97 might be better for hunting at least the DOA does not have any negative effects from the amp change.

Right now I use the following weapons myself just so you get a idea. (My B.L.P set up )

Ml35me

Swine deluxe (certain P.K. situations but not many that my Foe ripper cant do better and a lot cheaper)

Thanks for that, But i wasnt going to use it, Or the Rifle as a main weapon, I was gonna use the Rifle to tag and attack them when my Ep Merc cant reach. However looking at its stats i am starting to see your point on the hunting Effectivness. if i get payed tomorrow ill look into the TR6 on auction. If not it will have to wait till the new year.

The pig is a great finishing weapon - if you want to whack the mob for 70 damage when you know its your last shot VERY slow reload times - Sounds cool when firing though.

as97 - faster reload not as much damage and got a dud dud dud sound also fairly slow compared to a mk2 with amp, I was finding i was doing more damage with the mk2 and 104 amp and quicker than i was with the as97

Its up to you in the end but I have not sold my mk2 and fires well and have a maddox iv also plasma anhilaotor - I find the ranges good and fun.

I'll add that it has some in use one or two times on difficult mobs. Say I'm against a tough mob that's nearly dead and I've got very little heatlh left, then occasionally I'll give the mob a blast from the Pig. Assuming I hit, it takes off a huge chunk of health and often kills the mob before I die. Sort of a last minute panic weapon that's saved my ass a few times.

But as a lot of people on this thred say, there's better weapons you can get for your money other than a Pig.
