Whats a good "Panic Gun"? :handgun:

When I first started I bought an A-3 Punisher Mk.I at Zychion as a panic weapon (since it kicked a lot harder than the TT Opallo).

Now, the "L"s I buy to skill up with usually kick just as hard, and a little faster.

Any suggestions on what weapon should I invest in as my new "Panic Gun"?

Budget wise, modest right now - I Figure, +deposits-ammo-repairs+loot$$, around 150 Ped, But don't let that hold You back! Suggest & I'll save up...

Skill wise - I'll check back in when I get home & can fire up EU... (boss doesn't like it for SOME REASON )

Type wise - If it shoots, I'll use it. I'm trying to keep fairly even on the cross skilling.

BTW - it doesn't HAVE to be a handgun (pistol). I tried to get the "handgun" smiley into the thread caption...sighhhhh.

If you have the skills, the Korss 400L is quite useful for this. I can easily take an Atrox Alpha with this gun and ghost armor. There are much better guns obviously, but the Korss is affordable and plentiful. I would probably need more info from you to give a much more detailed analysis.

There are many choices here, all depending on: budget, skills, BLP, Laser, Plasma, Melee etc.

The fist thing to consider is budget, as if you don't know how much you plan to spend, no one can make any helpful suggestions at all.

Korss H400.

If an Amped H400 can't get you out of a jam, you:

1) are hunting without good pulling.
2) are hunting, or hunting near, too high a level a mob for you.
3) have been dealt a crit.
3) suck.


and FFS don't *buy* a Korss. Just go loot one...

Well, you have a bit of a dilemma. Im sure if you could use a Korss H400 you would be, since you are skilling up the L weapons. As you move up the chain, the difference in average damage/second between your current L gun and whatever uneco non-L gun you might use is reduced. Once you have the H400 maxed, for quite some time you can deal damage faster with that than with say a EWE-EP40 Mercenary, both with a106 amp.

If you have some BLP skills you could go with the Maddox IV + Beast for a 33% increase in damage rate, or + Cause for even faster damage (~50% increase) at a higher cost, ofc.

Edit: I over-guestimated your minimum damage with the Maddox IV quite a bit when using the Weapon Compare Tool at www.entropiatools.com. Assuming a 1.2 BLP HA, the Maddox IV + Cause would give you about a 15% boost over maxed H400 + a106 -- not exactly the cure for panic. So unless you had major ped, the panic weapon becomes a thing of your past or your distant future.

I would say either Justifier MkII for rifle or EP22/EP33 handgun. The EP22/EP33 are identical guns except exchange 1 additional pec decay for 1 less round of ammo.. for a panic weapon I'll take the decay on EP33 so I can do more with less ammo in a critical situation. These weapons are still available at reasonable prices, and are pretty much at the top of the chain before the prices start going straight up with higher models.

If you are not skilled enough to use the K400 you will have less performance with it at HA 0/10 than an UL gun with low stats. I almost have the K380 maxed, and still at HA 0/10 on the K400 so I won't touch one.

I think that a good panic weapon in your current budget is a ep-40. Assuming you HG skills don't completely suck. It can handle a big amp, it's un-L, and it's fairly cheap. If you're willing to save up I like my FreanD Delta for my panic gun/big mob hunt gun.

If by "panic" you mean "OMG this mob will will kill me and I want to kill him first soo bad" and the heck with eco
then you are looking for: decent dmg with high attack rate
which means Maddox IV or Frean Delta (nice to shoot but horrible decay) for about 250-400 ped
Next choice might be a EWE Merc, not as much dmg but way better decay, it hits about like a Justy mkII but fires faster.
Next lower choice something like a Shriek Back Alley, still decent dmg but even better decay.
There's probably others that are good too, those are just what I have studied.

Anything that attacks less than 50 ain't a panic choice imho, unless it really does a lot of dmg.
But attack rate isnt everything, the Mann MPH is 75 attack and won't kill a beer on a Saturday night.
I'm using an amped merc for my panic button and it works well, even though I'm not really skilled enough for it and only use it when something MUST die, like a mob that wants to kill me when I'm on a claim.

i am mining only since a few weeks, only hunting on sochunts. i am using a frean delta with bulltac40 as a panic weapon, if a mob attacks me while im ectracting the ore, or if a mob sits on my claim, i can kill it easy with this weapon. i really dont have enough skills to use it economical, but is really dont care about the eco, because it is only a panicweapon, and a tool to make soem fun on sochunts

freand delta is a good choice, and a very good price if you consider that as-97 is at the same price, which has not so good stats..
