just thinking, opalo may not be the best starting rifle.


your reload and max damage are compromised by your lack of skills, so this makes the weapon very ineffective.

the opalo will cost you more to use as you will get hit more by mobs (armour and fap decay) as it take longer to kill the mob, and you are doing less than max damage so the gun is very un eco.

with the jester, you start with the same minimum damage as teh opalo, but you have full reload and full max damage.

it may be wise to start with the good old jester d-1, with possibly an a101, untill you have built some skills, then swap to the opalo when have a better ha with it. i would guess around 5 ha (with the opalo) or better.


yes the opalo has the sib, but as you can use the amp to full efect on the jester you should get more skills (more decay = more skills) and i would guess the money saved from teh jester + a101 being more efficient , i will more than make up for a slightly slower skill gain.

personally, i'd never pick a jester over opalo for a starting ava.

if anything, i'd pick an isis cb5 (L), which is faster, has same dmg range, and has SIB.

Does Opalo not start at HA=3.0 and Jester at HA=0?

I may be wrong though - thought I read that somewhere. Its a hard one to advise on since things have changed so much since we started. Like you say, we need a noob to do some checking out...

from 1 to say 200 pts in rifle the jester is more eco

remember, the jester has a hilarious low HA, and also quite low damagebut due to that lower eco, you might lose 1 ped more with opalo


that is covered with markup already, often at least

and you even buy a weapon purely to tt later on

it is hard to say if the minimal better average eco of the jester has enough effect to make a buy useful

It is correct.
The opalo falls behind the jester D1 for example for the first few hours of hunting.

When to determine the best moment to switch to Opalo.

It is simple :
At the moment that the average damage is higher than the average damage of the jester.

I currently don't have figures but I asssume that the jester isn't for sure better than the opalo at level 5 in the professional standing. (jester at 2.3-8-0)

For the opalo to be better than that it's average damage must be then be better than 5.15
Which means a damage interval of 3.43-6.87

It doesn't require for the opalo to be maxed in damage for it to have a much better average damage. (the hit and critical ability will be at this stage also better compared with the opalo)

So I say when it hits 3.3 or 3.4 of minimum damage it is more than safe to use the opalo by newcommers.

I advise an earlier use but without figures I can't defend it at the moment.

That is also a mistake.
He should only be hunting (unless in team) things that won't hit him too much before die (like 3 or 4 hits at the most)
Things with less than 100-120 HP and a small armor won't make the armor decay to high.
It is important for them to learn to hunt on small mobs or else they will loose big time on the larger mobs if they go there and aren't prepared.
So the difference bettwen ful and half speed isn't that high.

ANd in my estimative there is a small degree of value that could be optimized which means that it could go lower, but since there are also factors like the ones presented by you to make it higher I gave what I consider a safe estimative of the value that I advise and why.

The opalo and jester are exactly equal in eco with 0 skill. Your damage is slightly lower, but it is compensated with a better HA. However, as soon as you will get skill, the opalo will be more eco.
