Improving the purpose/use of Societies

Here is an idea brought forward by my society Leader Ebony Knight. I would like to know what you all think or if you have any other ideas like this/ ways to improve this idea?

Improving the purpose/use of Societies
By improving the purpose and function of societies in Entropia Universe it will help in various ways.
• Societies will actively recruit more members either in-game or in real life
• Helping new players to Entropia Universe will mean higher retention of new players
• Rewards in societies will promote members to be more active in EU.
• Competition between societies will promote members to be more active in EU
• Reduce the number societies under 5 members

Society Types and Ranks
• Types – Hunting, Mining, Crafting, Defense, Mindforce, Beauty & Medical, Scientific & Support
• Sub-Classes in Society Types
o Hunting: Ranged-(Pistoleers, Snipers, Grenadiers), Melee-(Brawlers, Clubbers, Knifefighters, Swordsmen, Whippers).
 Only the highest profession from hit or damage is used.
 Or Average of hit and profession used for each type.
o Mining: Drillers, Miners, Prospectors, Surveyors
o Crafting: Component Engineers – (Attachment, Electronics, Mechanical, Metal), Equipment – (Armour Engineers, Carpenter, Tool Engineer), Weapons – (2 sub-sections: Melee Weapon Engineers & Ranged Weapon Engineers), Tailors – (Colourer, Material Designers, Material Manufacturers, Tailor)
o Defense – Decoy Dispenser, Dodger, Evader
o Mindforce: All Mindforce professions
o Beauty & Medical: Beauty Professions, Paramedic, Biotropians and Revivers
o Scientific/Support: Animal Investigator, Animal Tamer, Humanoid Investigator, Mentors, Mutant Investigators, Pet Handlers, Robot Investigator
• Society Ranks work like Professions but with the Society types instead of professions and is based on members’ profession levels
• Society Type Reputation Ranks is based on reaching certain mile-stones/goals with-in each type/sub-type of the society.
o Reputation ranks can fall if society does not meet requirements
o Alliances with other Societies provide bonus, not declaring “war” with another society and attacking its members lose points.
o Gain bonuses for attacking another society at war with, lose points when attacking allied society members
o Points gained for recruiting freelancers
o Points lost when member goes freelancing
o Society is rewarded when reaching score levels based on
Reputation score, number of members and society ranking. Examples:
 Non-taxable property society house
 Controlling land around society house that cannot be taxed
 Land can be taxed (hunting society can put hunt tax, mining society for mine tax otherwise just sales tax)
 Gaining gun turret to protect house/land
 Gun turret can target enemy society members
 Gun turrets are graded – better the society rank the more damage/fire rate the gun turret can do.
 Permission to build hanger if land large enough is owned or landing pad
 (MindArk Rewards given to societies based on number of active accounts and societies)
o Start removing societies with low number of members
 While 5 members is a reasonable starting number for a society to be approved. 10 members (or higher) would be a better minimum number with a 1 to 3 months time limit to reach and maintain that number.
 A warning to the society that it will lose reputation rank or dissolved unless requirement is met. A deadline is included in warning.
o (I guess to be completely unbiased I need to add) A fee maybe required for advancing in society ranks as well. (Biased – don’t like this idea but guess it’s only fair to include it.)

why remove societies with small membership? That's Biased. Perhaps a group of people want to keep it small. How does a soc with 10 members hurt you or your soc or the game?

Some nice ideas here. Perhapse some need fleshing out a little more. Its good to see people back with the idea lists though.

Not sure I like the idea of SMA being on the verge of extinction though cause we are small. ^^ However I see where you are coming form on that one.

I would be happy to see some kind of automatic culling of societies that have no active members.

Doesn't this idea reward the creation of fake accounts by giving societies free gifts? It would also have an extremely detrimental impact on the estate market, with the introduction of an uncontrolled supply of houses, taxable land and hangars.

indeed, no need to force everyone to be the same. Some of us don't feel like being glued to the PC all day just so some achievement can be made.

why should small societies be disbanded??? some folks prefer it that way. they are already penalized enough as it is - especially in landgrab events.

there is no reason for all of the society system to be micromanaged. they are doing that now as it is..

most societies already have mixed professions or generally loose alliances with their friends ..

these ideas are mostly ok , but i think are generally already in place.

Honestly do not like the ideas.
Big socs becoming even bigger, bolder and better ?
Support chauvinism ?
And there are a lot of small socs who really like it small.
