Question How Mentoring should be!

hey all i think the mentoring system needs to change, one thing that bothers me is the fact i have had 5 disciples gradute and helped countless others that have quit in various % of completion ranging from 1% to 94% and with all this mentoring ive done and help ive given to newcomers that my mentoring skill is represented by a mesealy 3 skill points in mentoring. I just dont feel that is an accurate representation of my abilities as a mentor, so i think MA should revamp the system so the mentor skill rises accordingly as the disciple skills up!.
so what does everyone think?

Ive mentored 5 in total
1 quit 3 were scammers lol 1 graduated and I got a crappy ME weapon BUT I got a friend for life in EU and THAT is what mentoring is really about for me, not skills or gifts or whatever

(not that I have the energy or time to do it often lol)

but yes i do agree that getting a disciple to 94 % should be reflected in some type of skill gain for the mentor

ive given up on this already...

only one whos ever graduated been my brother...

most of the ppl in my list havent even reached to 1%

i have one guy in my FL who was my disciple first but then some other mentor pride him to change mentor... ive always as a mentor been only answering their questions and helping when they need it.. but not giving free stuff.. coz that would be stupid coz the mentor prize aint gonna pay u back..

its annoying how other mentors keep on stealing players.. they know shit about this game been on swampcamp from day 1.. maybe killed few snables with opalo.. then they steal ur disciples by givin 100 bottles of sweat.. lol..

Talking Actions speak louder then words.

I look at the mentor skill the same way I see the sweat skill. They are both just a number to me. I have had 20 graduates under me. I don’t even worry about the gift any more. I take pride in my self that I have done a good job getting someone new ready to take on the challenges of EU. Seems as how there are so many unskilled, unknowledgeable, and just down right uncaring people that call them self a mentor just to get a gift at the end. Makes me want to set my self apart from them.

It makes me feel good to hear my disciples say ty for helping them and then go back and tell other people that I was there mentor and that they were glad I was. So I guess to answer your question Pete, in this case let your actions be all the reward you need. Anything else you get after that is just icing on the cake. Someone speaking highly of you will stand out tons more then a number or name.

I agree in part, but now when a disciple accepts a mentors rank and skill shows up. So a really good mentor who has helped many people will show as a newbie mentor to a new disciple, so I agree with the thread starter that the mentor skill should go up signifigantly with each graduate.

If my memory serves me right it used to be 30ish lvls per graduated disciple when the system first came? got no clue why they changed it...
And yes in a "skillbased game" it does seem kinda pointless to even have the skill when it would take incredible amounts of time and work even to get it past lvl10 :p.
That being said the mentoring system needs major changes before it makes "sense" imo. The ridiculously low gains in skills from helping someone for months is only a minor issue...

I understand what your saying here. But the fact is. There where tons of people that ran around adding people when I first started playing. And most of the time the people said yes and then never saw the mentor again. I'm sure by now the people in question have a high lvl in mentorship would you agree? But does that mean they are a good mentor because a new person sees that they are skilled as a mentor? If someone is that aware of the skill set in EU. Then it's time to sell your self is it not? Once again, actions speak louder then words.

Any way you want to look at it. You had a mentor. So whoever your friends are keep thanking them. Because if they help you as much as you say the did they were all your mentors.... lol Maybe this will help before you post again

MENTOR A wise and trusted counselor or teacher.
Mentor Greek Mythology. Odysseus's trusted counselor, in whose guise Athena became the guardian and teacher of Telemachus.

I have 2 questions:

1. Where do you see how close to graduation your deciple is?

2. Can you chip out and in Mentorship?
