Why not handle this the way MA handles everything else?
All skills are transferable but at a HUGE ped cost? Now knowing MA, it wouldn't be a straight forward thing either, no, can't do that can we? They'd most likely make a NEW type of ESI made JUST for transfering worlds, so that you have to chip out skills from this one and then send it to your avvie in the other world, and then reskill in this one.So in true MA style, it on the surface appears free/cheap, and seems to cater well to the players and in the meantime has all kinds of levels of ped taxing in the process to ensure that every bit of skill crossing means mucho peds in MA's pocket. That is my prediction. ![]() That being said, what would I LIKE to see?? I'd like to see that your avvie could just physically visit the other worlds, all normal like, that the pilots get to fly you there, and that the onus is on the new worlds to provide NEW content that requires NEW skills so there remains the incentive to skill on the new planets. But..... what I'd like to see even more?? I'd like to see them finish this planet!!! Hadesheim anyone? ![]() -Remmie |

I vote for they stay the same.
Rizzet I don`t think it`s so much as they take ped. But the fact that they try to skim as much as possible away from the player. Which makes it harder to profit, chip out etc. And in fact some of the skim has been in decay in many areas like clothes, armor tax, amp nerf causing less eco hunting possibilities, skill nerfs causing more missed shots and things like that. So not that they are taking ped but making it so that as little as possible leaves the universe which in turn does make MA richer in assets or our money. It`s a way to boost percieved worth for investors and partners creating a more comfortable atmosphere for partnering up. And of course at the players expense no matter how small or large. It`s not a theory or conspiracy it`s just how things work in todays world in rl and now vr. |

As I said in an earlier thread, it's a pretty obvious decision.
If virtually all skills and items are not interchangeable from world to world, you can expect the economy of the old world to collapse as the new, exciting, well-publicized world comes out. Why would anybody join an old "universe" when they could be in on the ground floor of the new one? Although MA seems to be more interested in pushing their "platform" than their MMORPG, any new licensee of the platform will realize that their new planet/universe/whatever will only be popular until the next licensee comes out with something better. That is, unless it all ties together seemlessly. This doesn't mean that there can't be new skills added, though. Things like Piloting, Space Defense, Heavy Weaponry, Vehicle Operations, etc. would all be likely candidates. And there is nothing to say that every last item has to transfer back and forth, just the majority of them. |

true, irl we dont lose sklls. but this isnt real life. I believe it will be adjusted for balancing and control. does owner of the new planet want a bunch of highly skilled/equipped people from day one? do they want to provide opportunties for a new player base to grow within their creative remit? wholesale adoption of the existing skills limits what they might be able to do.

So with that said, your right, this is not rl. But why would we have to lose skills just because we go to a new planet? And the highly skilled people you speak of, 95% of them chipped there way up. And why was chipping introduced? To allow the people who had the money to move up faster, and to keep them from getting board with EU and stick around. So what makes you think this new world will not have the same thing like chipping if not the same concept, if they want to keep the big spenders around? So if they go the route your talking the not so highly skilled players are still be damned if they do and damned if they don’t. So IMO, I think they will leave skills right where they are. Whoever has the MONEY has the CONTROL, who ever has the control, has the POWER. Write that down, lol ![]() Last edited by D-Low; 05-12-2008 at 19:43. |
