Just imagine your hunting out in the wild where noone ever seemed to be before and suddenly you stand at a highway.
Streets would just spoil the landscape imo.

The only road I want is the road to success. And very often the road less traveled. Unfortunately the road to ruin is a bit easier to find.

There was a university complex that only had grass around all the buildings when it opened. They let the students cut the paths (which were of course indicating the most efficient and also the most used walk routes) and then paved them.

Beautiful management metaphore as well, just facilitate, let the people find the best way to do things and then institutionalize.
