Ah i get your point, that will not work if you are scanning a PKer tho, since you may not know what weapon he got etc... It will work on mobs tho

Yes, thats a good way to see how much better ex. angel will be than jaguar on "this" mob, and maybe make people upgrade. Just becouse of this, MA might earn cash on it too, above the decay from scanning

However i dont find higher EQ stuff to use higher lvl of skill to compare, i just think it should be more accurate and show more info with more skills...

This Idea could actually be quite useful,
but another thing I think would be rather useful, would be scopes with integrated scanners, to ease the scanning of bigger mobs and other players in pvp zones, thus enabling miners to evaluate the treat levels of charging PKers... the decay of these "scanner Scopes" would of course be higher than that of normal scopes and scanners and would perhaps exist in different levels and in rarer editions, They could be either looted or crafted and perhaps exist with SIB in the form of (L) versions, and unlimited versions of those could exist in small numbers...

Like the idea

I always thought it would have been fun to take a snapshot of the mob with your scanner. The snapshot then goes into some kind of PDA ( which you can buy in TT or with a technician) where all your scanned mobs are displayed.
That way you can browse through mobs if you are bored, and perhaps by scanning all the mobs available you can unlock something dunno.

Perhaps the info gathered by your suggestions could be included too, including the pk'ers The PDA could be a kind of mini-wiki for mobs and pk'ers.

nice thinking mate... somewhat useless maybe... but still pretty nice, collectors card anyone?

I have wanted to see a more complicated system for scanning for a long time.

I always saw myself as a more scientifically minded person vs. being a rambo type. It's frustrating when the effort I put into scanning doesn't give as tangible results as just going out and slaughtering a field full of animals.

There are some good ideas in this thread. I hope MindArk does something to improve the scientific aspects of EU.

Always thougt that the scan system could be improved. as it is now, I think it's a bit useless...

here some of the ideas I would enjoy...

- The PDA idea would be great... such as a collection where once the mob has been scanned, it appears in the PDA. you could have it in a 3d view (or 2d dependiong on the options you put). So, then you would have a great collection of mobs you scanned & would be another challenge to fill it

- Scanning a mob, would give you the list of possible loots you can have from it... and depending of your skills, you could access to a map where it shows where to find other mobs of the same species.

- Skill depending scan could give you information on the loots he have. Example if you are noob, you could get a message such as (NO INFORMATION AVAILABLE) ... mid skilled (20% chance to have a loot - Average information reliability 47%) and when you are an ENTROPIA MASTER you would get: (100% loot on this mob - 100_% reliability)

I think this would increase dramatically the usage of the Scanners

i like that middle part, the last "information about loot" im not sure i quite understands...
You mean what the mob CAN drop (that is discovered) or you mean you can scan a mob and it will tell you "i have a shadow harness inside of me, please kill me and loot it"
