Well maybe you could try with a laser whip I suggested in the thread linked in my signature. ^^ Not sure if they have a spirit to break tho. I guess it's rather some program issue to fix.

Basic screws, auto adjustors etc.. All that tt fodder robot crap...

But the thought of having your pet bot do trick is delicious..

My idea was to introduce a new type of item, some special computer chip you need to insert into a dead drone, then hack its system. A special "hacker" skill is needed to determine your chance of success comparable to the normal animal taming skills, maybe we could just make use of the existing "Computer" skill there as well, but then again crafters would be too much in advance in a feature that is ment for people who go out into the fields. When you successfully hacked the drone you get a deed and it gets transfered into your inventory, as every pet. Just think of the miners out there who lose their spacecraft , or cannot locate it in the first place... send your hacked drone(s) to help you find your claim and eliminate any big bad hunters who happen to stumble upon 'your' claimed space-craft! e.g. this poor guys' experience not funny (it's a little bit funny )

Or, if you are a hunter, you could have a minion of bots to join you in PvP zones, they would automatically protect you against hostile threats.. anyway, you get the point

thing is tho, the bots would have to be 'hacked' without necessairly killing them. Perhaps a scanner-like device would do the trick - think of a tool like a Scanner-IV; sth like that would be a good example of a robot persuader!

It would probably be pretty close to the Aibo. Also one could teach it to speak. Then a robot could become one's best friend...

I wonder, why so many are against it? Just imagine all the fun you can have with a drone as mining protector, hunting partner or as help on a TP run with your disciple! Or take your drone along on a drone hunt. ^^

As I said before, feeding could work either with those 8V Gel Batterys or simply light weapon cells.

I like the idea, in fact I thought I had come up with it myself a day or two ago.
Then finding this thread this morning, I figured I should make a comment at least.

I am not sure how the details would be handled, but there are some good ideas here. Feeding the robots oil maybe?

As far as the advantage crafters would have if the computer skill was involved, I think it wouldn't hurt too badly. The computer skill could be a tertiary component in the actual hacking, like zoology is to animal taming. The hacking system could add two new skills: programming (like animal lore), and root override (like animal taming).

Maybe this is something MA has already got in the pipeline a LONG way off...

I don't know, but I think it's a cool idea.

Maybe Id want this feature in 10 years, theres is SOOOO MUCH other things to concentrate on. This would be just another USELESS feature, just like taming

If i could have a pet Warrior, trooper, or better yet, a SEG, that might be fun. Run into a busy area, pet SEG in tow, and watch most everyone leave.
