But throw-a-stone tagg is realy nice, I use a BGH4400 and it costs not even half of the Bravo for each shot and the same result. But a SIB version would also be nice. Only I would not use it for maximum uses possible in the range, but only to tag it once. (like I do now with the BGH4400) Last edited by Henceforth; 05-07-2008 at 14:55. |

IMO eco for tagging gun doesnt matter much...
1 shot -> switch to normal carbine/pistol |

I been using the bravo since my second month..
Did not see a problem with Eco.. First used it just to tag as ammo prices were a tad high to start. After getting skills I used it to hunt with..found it VERY eco to one shot diaks for 23 ammo then to take 3-5 shots with a Justy MKII. FF range is STILL 30m less. The only issue with bravos is speed. My ranged blp is 34 my ranged laser is 34 and my ranged plasma is 31 if that tells you my faith and use in plasma rifles. Sepnd a lil time skilling and they are Very effective when used with finishing weapons. |

Yup. At first I attributed the delay to the design crew just being busy, but its been far too long now for that to be the sole reason. I also thought MA might be in the process of possibly releasing them at some point awhile ago, but then held back worrying about the fallout from the (L) ranged guns popping a hole in the ever-inflated "ML-Camo bubble" (which lacking any (L) competition, continues to expand to this day). It all does seem like a conspicuous oversight, leaving me to adhere a gold star to your idea.

In transforming (via process of "rarification") the ML rifle from a once nice, but still rather utilitarian gun, into today's "fledgling-uber" weapon du-jour, MA generates the needed hype and PR ammunition (sorry ) to attract new players. Its mostly light rather than heat of course, with valuation of virtual items being so "relative", but the RL price tags do attract the eye balls, just as TI and CND did. In this case just to a lesser degree.I'm certainly not saying the EU economy is not growing, but the ML-Camo market (as example to attempt to cling to topic) is becoming an ever smaller piece of the overall EU economic pie as the influx of new players slowly gathers pace. From a PR point of view (where you narrowly focus on just the positive and dramatic) publicizing charts and graphs showing 8 month price rises on the rarified UL items will seduce many investors and virtual 49'ers to join the party and ante up. I still worry about the inflation for the potential it has for divisiveness, and a burgeoning sense of "class" separation in game, but at the same time I've got to hand it to MA for maintaining the whole marketing spin of "Get in While the Getting's Good!", for as long as they have. Attracting the punters is the key to game's longevity, especially when your model is built apon a heavy churn rate (but that is way off topic). |

I think the reason is logical for MA but maybe a little frustrating for "us".
The L weapons have given the average player the means to hunt bigger mobs than ever before - they instil a level of confidence in us that just wasn't available in the past. This means that we are inevitably drawn to try these high damage guns on the bigger mobs, which means higher armour decay and higher fap decay. That decay is essentially going straight in to MA's pockets (where it goes from there (loot, overheads, whatever) is irrelevant for this topic) which is good for them. Yesterday we had a little soc hunt on SEGs, two of the team were using long range BLP rifles; by the time the mob was in range of the L-using members 50% or more of it's hitpoints were gone. Once it was among us there was the usual spread of deaths, TPing back, fapping etc. Suppose the other team members had L equivalents of the ML/Camo - the SEG could have been dead before it even got to us. Great news for us but no fapping, no armour decay, no TP-chip decay - shitty news for MA. I'm not surprised that MA have yet to introduce new long range guns, it would lead to a situation where huge numbers of hunters never got hit because the mob was killed before it got to the player. Suppose every day you pay 10 ped in "defence decay" (a conservative estimate) and suppose every day 10,000 players pay that amount. That's 100,000 ped a day; that's $3,650,000 a year... Okay, maybe a bit optimistic with the player count but I think 10 ped is just slightly less than most of us pay in "defence decay" a day. Suppose the majority of players are able to start using L equivalents of the ML-type guns, that above figure is going to drop - fast. While I'd love (and will never be able to afford) a nice long range gun the fact that MA have bills to pay can't be avoided and that money has to come somewhere. Having said that, a limited tagger with 120m~ range and something silly like 20 damage would be great just so we didn't have to waste so much money with a Bravo ![]() |
