That was my first thoughts, too.

There are other places in our solar systen with greater chance to find some live (algea, bacteria or any other low forms of live).
But who cares about that, we have enough live on planet earth and its time to export some of it to other planets.
First step should be a base on Moon
Second step Mars, this hole is a nice place to build first habbitats many other places will be as good as this.
Then go on! The moons of Jupiter and Saturn are very interesting planets and some of it a lot bigger than Mars.

Reminds me of starwars with those nice big space worms. Mayby one of those crept through this hole.

Would be fun to suddenly find big holes in the sides of the mountains around new switserland with underground creatures in it.

...the hole goes far enough down to catch some of the internally generated heat of the planet....

...and we send a botcraft with searchlights down there to check things out...

...and NASA Mission Control monitors reveal staticy, fuzzy pictures of obviously artificial structures, just before the signal is lost...

...think there would be a news blackout?

Hell, for all we know there is one!

Would those in charge let footage of something like that be simply released to the evening news?
How would they handle information like that?

Theres no doubt that there are other "people" in space. If someone thinks WE are the only "people" then they are very wrong

I think there has been a pocket which suddenly appeared, maybe because of an underground river of something fluent (water on mars??) - like the thing that happened on earth here in Guatemala

Then again, I'm so n00bish.. might just be the caramel afterall
