This company wants volunteers to link up their home computers globally to create Artificial Intelligence!

Scary: They understand it will be capable of making its own decisions and that it will be smarter than us, and HOPE to be able to enable safeguards against it acting against humanity!!! WTF?

And they are serious!

My P4 2.8GHz with 2GB of RAM could never harm any human ! Thats at least what it tells me every morning...

No worries, there is no REAL A.I. atm and watching recent development in this field, also won't be for a long, long time (Note: do not confuse processing power with intelligence). Even the computer which has one billion times processing power of the human brain will be instantly killed off by a mundane question such as: Is it OK for a goat and a monkey to ride a scooter up the milky way around 4 o'clock in the afternoon at 70 miles per hour, while goat eats a hot dog, monkey smokes a cigar and neither of them wears a safety helmet ?

Every (sane) person will immediately spot that I am talking utter rubbish here, but even the most advanced AI atm will become tangled in prolonged reasoning about individual parts of that drivel

and will try to answer YES or NO to a question, which really doesn't have any (sane) answer.
