Perhaps a few too many vodka's tonight, but hey what else is new?
I just wanna say that I highly disapprove of the scavenging for support members amongst the knocked out teams to get them to join teams for no other reason than a post in there own team thread in an attempt to sway them into doing something they were not otherwise planning. This to me seems to be an insult to the players in that team that they are weak enough to be so easily influenced. If any of you want to continue to play in WoF as support for another team then let it be for your own reasons. Have a relative in Australia? Spent a holiday in Sweden? Love Belgium chocolates? Whatever your reason, make sure it's you're OWN reason, and not anyone else's. I know this seems a minor point to make, but as this is cropping up all over the place I feel I need to get this one off my chest, as in particular I'm losing respect for those players that are trying to shepherd such players into they're own way of thinking, and I'm sorry but it needed to be said. I only made a new thread of this due to the fact it had cropped up all over the place and this was the best way to speak to the Shepherds and the sheep all at once. I'll let sobriety take any consequences in the morning. |

Hey Cat!
Really, I don't think anybody will be moved to join because of these vulturous posts, on the contrary, it might demote any eventual supporter ![]() |

Too lose rules about the support members, we have a chance to see 15-20 support teams and around 100 members in for one county in the final.
Yeah if we are going too see finals like that, not the right country will win this year. Better rules to next year maby ? ![]() |

Sorry, Cat...the team "poaching" is fair and a good strategy. I'd do it for Scotland had not so many other teams already done it .Unlimited support is just that: unlimited. These messages to me seemed only like an open invitation...that teams were open to new support from players that had been eliminated. It's actually very nice to give them an offer to continue. No matter what the incentive orthe reason I think people will go where they want. I am still waiting for my mega-support reservations to show, but I have found *scoring* support quite fun...it does give support a chance to feel more involved in the points than just fapping and running ammo. It gives the beginning/weaker hunters a chance to score for their team. |

It's entirely up to any player if they feel moved to help support any other team, after their team of first loyalty is eliminated from WoF.
I don't know about the other countries inviting others to join their support, but Australia is very much a multi-cultural country, with family and social links to many other nations. As co-ordinator of the Australian support team, I've simply extended an invitation to any who may wish to join with us ![]() I don't really understand how this can be considered 'scavenging' WoF is not just a great competition, but has been a fantastic opportunity to meet other players - and not just from my own country either. I think we all have a lot to learn from each other, and competing in WoF gives us a reason to share some fun and experience. |

If members of a team have just lost and are still smarting from this defeat, I guess it can seem a little rude, to jump in and say 'join us!'
But what if they didnt get asked, that might be even worse! This is a great competition, joining another team gives people the chance at least to continue. Continue to have fun, the opportunity to meet players they would never have met in normal circumstances, and still be part of something great. If and when my team losses, I will certainly be weighing up whch country I would prefer to win/support next. ![]() |

The WoF this year is not only about which team has the most skilled and best equipped players. It is also, to some degree, which team is more popular and can gather and organise a bigger support team. I love this feature as it makes it much more social and engaging, especially for players that have no hope to ever be on the main hunt team.
As a side note, you might be surprised to know that there was already some cross-support between teams that have not been eliminated. Underdogs packing together against the lions as it were |

Even as I was writing this last night I knew it was a mistake.
See, what I’ve done here, and what thankfully no-one has decided to point out, is been hypocritical to the point that I’m insinuating that even I think such people can be easily led by merely starting this thread in the first place. Ironic in’it? I take back use of the word “scavenging” too – that creates the wrong imagery. *Mental note – stop posting while drunk!* |
